Overview
Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca Mountain or Mountain of Seven Colors, is an attraction located in the Andes Mountains in Peru. It is renowned for its stunning colors ranging from red, green, yellow, and purple, making it a popular tourist destination. Situated at over 4800 meters above sea level, it is located between the districts of Pitumarca and Cusipata. To reach there, approximately 3 hours of bus travel are required. We will take your there with our expert guides on the Rainbow Mountain Tour!

Meeting Point
We offer pick-up services from your accommodation and/or hotel, as long as it is located in the historic city center. Alternatively, your party may opt to meet your guide in the Cusco Main Square.
What To Bring on the Rainbow Mountain Tour:
Personal Documents: Bring your passport and/or other form of identification. Also, make sure to have the necessary tickets or vouchers for the tour. If you have any questions about this, please ask your guide!
Money for All Occasions: (Preferably local currency – Peruvian Soles) Carry enough cash for entrance fees, snacks, and souvenirs. We want you to enjoy without worries, so have everything you need!
Camera, Light Clothing, Water Bottle, Sunscreen, Lightweight or Trekking Shoes, Sunglasses, Rain Covering (September-April is rainy season): It is important to be prepared for variations in weather. At high altitudes, sun protection is extremely important. Accordingly, be sure to bring a hat or cap. Also, bring layers so you’re able to adjust depending on the temperature, as it is quite hot during the day, and becomes quite cool in the evenings.
Tour Itinerary
- We will pick you up from the establishment where you are staying as long as it is located in the historic center.
- We will travel to Cusipata, approximately 2.5 hours, where we will have a buffet breakfast.
- 08:00 am Arrival at the village of Chilliwani (llaqto Cancha), where the hike will begin (4600 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL). From the village of Chilliwani, we will begin our hike towards the mountain (approximately 1 hour and a half), ascending to an altitude of approximately 5000 meters above sea level.
- We will return by the same trail (approximately one hour downhill), then we will take our transportation to return to the town of Cusipata.

LUNCH IN CUSIPATA (OPTIONAL).We will enjoy a buffet lunch (vegetarian and vegan options available) in the town of Cusipata.
- We will begin the return journey to Cusco from Cusipata at approx. 3:00 PM. We will return to Cusco in an approximate 2-hour journey, concluding at your hotel.
